Carolyn has been practising in insurance law, with a focus on professional indemnity matters, since 2009, after commencing her career as a State Prosecutor with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Her professional indemnity experience includes defending claims against lawyers, accountants, and local government councillors and officers.
In addition, Carolyn has experience in general commercial litigation matters and regulatory work, having acted on criminal prosecutions, Legal Profession Act 2008 disciplinary proceedings, ASIC investigations and Real Estate Institute of WA matters.
She acts for local, interstate and international insurers in insurance related matters, providing advice on indemnity, policy interpretation and on the defence of matters up to, and including trial.
Carolyn has significant experience appearing before the Magistrates, District and Supreme Courts, acting as trial counsel in the District and Supreme Courts. She is admitted to appear before the High Court of Australia and has appeared before the Federal Court of Australia and the State Administrative Tribunal.
Carolyn brings a practical and analytical approach to matters and focuses on providing cost-effective resolutions, using alternative dispute resolution where possible.
